I hope your Holidays were safe and enjoyable, can you believe it is the end of the first quarter of 08 already.
If you are reading this news letter you have an e-mail address from Rex or your own, I
want to thank you all for getting this done. Last count there were some foreman that have not got to it yet, which I'm sorry to say that they will not be able to run work for Rex with out it. I'm not sure how you can get by with out using the web.
Looking ahead into 08, Rex has been
awarded a few nice projects for this year which should lead us into next year. Don't get me wrong, it is very tough out there, tougher than I have ever seen before. There is more competition, higher wages, non union, higher material cost just to name a few factors that we need to contend with to get our share of the business.
I hate to say this but we are in a recession
but we have been here before and we know
what to do to keep our company strong. This is the 4th time I have been through it and you come out of it stronger than you went into it. What we need to keep in mind is we can not do business this year the way we did business last year.
You have to change things and change them
before it is to late. So that is exactly what we are doing. Here are a few things we are in the middle of, which have been started this year.
We have started out incentive program in
Jan, and it looks like it is going to be a success, for those of you who are eligible you will be receiving a report very soon.
We have hired an outside firm to build the
REX Intranet, this will allow all you foreman to excess thru the web all the needed materials regarding the project you are in charge of, including T & M sheets, cut sheets, it will also allow you to review and down load letters, this will become the communication conduit between the pm and the field, so we will not be

faxing or mailing anything to you. Everything
that you need to know about your project will
be on the Intranet for you to see.
       We put together our Communication
Committee which is brain storming on how the
Pm's and Foreman can communicate better.
The committee has been meeting every two
weeks, they will also be sending out a new
survey soon so keep an eye out for that. The
members of the committee are myself, John
Tautkus Dan Hartnett, Dave Benedetto, Greg
Blaszynski, Darron Murphy, Steve Barry and
Carol Hanika.
The Warehouse went over a major change
this first quarter, you can now eat off the
floors. I have never seen it so organized in my
life. Before we made the change and put Tom
Wonsil in charge it looked like a bomb hit it.
My point is the only thing that was changed was the leader, the team remain the same, remember this; going through life it is always the leader, the coach. You can take the same players the same team and get total different results just by changing out the leader. Remember it is always the leader.
We always have to be changing, we need
to keep on improving. Have you ever hear that
saying " this is the way we have always done it " or " this is just the way it is" those phrases send chills through me.
If you don't like the results than you must
change it, CHANGE is GOOD, you can not
expect a different result from some procedure
or from someone with out some kind of
change.
Remember: The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn.. and change.

Have a great spring, see you on the sites.
